What-is-homeopathy

Homoeopathy, the foundation

Homoeopathy, a holistic logical system, (natural, safe and effective) was founded around 200 years ago by Dr.Samuel Hahnemann who gave directions to this branch of medicine with his famous concept.

“Similia similibus curentur”

let like cures likes”

The whole of homoeopathy derives on this law. Homeopathy was started in 1796 by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, (1755-1843) was a German doctor (M.D.), a chemist, a pharmacist and, true to his times, a thorough scientist trained in depth in other scientific modalities.

Dr. Hahnemann while translating Cullen’s materia medica from English to German, came upon a idea which lead to the invention of Homoeopathy. Cullen wrote twenty pages of materia medica to therapeutic indications of Peruvian bark in success of treatment of intermittent fever based on fact that it was bitter & its tonic effects on stomach. Hahnemann being dissatisfied with his explanations “took by way of experiment, 4 drachms of good china twice a day” & was attacked by symptoms similar to malarial fever. Then he conducted similar experiments with other medicines whose curative actions in certain diseases are known on himself & other individuals & concluded that medicines cure similar symptoms in diseased person which they produce if given to a healthy individual.

Source of Homoeopathic medicines:- Homoeopathic medicines are prepared from minerals ( Natrum mur, Magnesia phos, etc ), plants (Nux vomica , Aconitum napellus, etc ) , animals (Blatta orientalis, Vipera, etc ), disease products (Bacillinum, Tuberculinum ,etc ) healthy animal tissues & secretions (Cortisone,  Adrenaline , etc ) & immaterial elements or energies ( X-ray , radium brom , etc ).

“The highest aim of healing is the speedy, gentle, and permanent restitution of health … in the shortest, most reliable, and safest manner, according to clearly intelligible reasons.”   –Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, M.D.

The three basic principles of homoeopathy are:

  • The rule of “Similia similibus curentur” (basic principle forming homoepathic nucleus)
  • Testing of medicine in healthy human being
  • The principle of dose.

One of the fundamental laws is that a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person, will stimulate the healing energy in a person who is suffering from these very symptoms, when that same substance is used in a homoeopathic form. It is gentle by giving an impulse to the innate healing force that resides in each of us. This is the law of similars which was already stated by Hippocrates in 600 BC. It has been used throughout the centuries.

Homoeopathy in India today

Homeopathy is the second largest popular system of medicine in the world today. It can treat both acute and chronic diseases in human beings. due to its miraculous recovery without any side effects it is taking by more and more people.. It is popular due to its ability to detoxify the body during the treatment and make the patient healthy.

India’s relationship with homeopathy can be traced way back to 1839 when Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab was treated using homoeopathic medicines.

Homoeopathy, has been accepted throughout India. In many states such as West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, etc., it is considered as a good line of therapy for day-to-day ailments.

“Homoeopathy is the latest & refined method of treating patients economically & nonviolently. Government must encourage & patronize it in our country…”

  M.K.GANDHI (Father Of the Nation).
